1. Math- The students are supposed to construct their own acute and obtuse angles from the list given in class. They should also complete the Dynamath homework assignment (pages 1-5)
2. Hoosier Hike #8, part #1- due Friday, January 13th
3. Writing- We were discussing descriptive writing and using details in their writing today. The students were given the following prompt:
"Choose a piece of clothing you own. Now write a description of this clothing to your classmates, using as many senses as you can. Be sure to include lots of details!"
If the prompt was not finished in class, they should finish this writing exercise for homework. Thank
you!
4. Science- Bring in a picture of someone you think you look like in your family. We are studying heredity and genes. This is an optional assignment.

Homework for Wednesday, December 7
Rats of NIMH: Read chapters 20-24 (no worksheet!) for Friday. Also, don't forget about your maze! These can be turned in anytime from tomorrow to Monday :) Please work hard and put some thought into this!
Writer's Workshop: Please continue working on your persuasive essays! You may turn these in any time between now and Monday! If you want a little help, I would love to look over your rough-drafts and rewrites to give you some advice! Please just make sure you are filling our your planning packets before you get too into your writing (if you do not fill out your planning packets, you may not realize that you don't have enough to say about your main idea or one of your details). Don't forget about the rubric, either! This will help guide you while you write :)
Math: Dyna-Math Pages 2-5
Science: We would LOVE it if some of you would bring just a few sheets of paper towels from home for our hydro-ponics! No homework for Science, otherwise :)

Homework 12/5/11
1. Homophones Worksheet
2. Rats of Nimh Character drawing due tomorrow, Chapters 16-19 and complete packet for Wednesday.
--For the character drawing: make sure that you have five things on your drawing that describe your character, not just the way they look ("feet running" does not describe a character, but "feet running away from Dragon" does!). For the packet, make sure that you complete the entire chart and at least two vocabulary words. The extra two vocabulary word charts are bonus!
3. Algebra Worksheet and Fractions Worksheet (Don't forget to reduce your fractions!)
4. Heredity Worksheet (due Wednesday) Enjoy finding out the unique traits that you have in common
with parents and relatives!
5. The Barbara McClintock timeline worksheet is due tomorrow.

Homework for Wedesnday, November 30
Rats of NIMH: Chapters 12-15 and worksheet due tomorrow! Please make sure you put thought into your answers. I have been seeing a lot of worksheets that look rushed-- this does not go unnoticed and points will be taken for work that does not show thoughtful answers!
Math: Pages 242-243 numbers 11-33 odd.
Science: ERT Worksheet.

Exploring the properties of seeds in fruits!
The class had so much fun investigating seeds!
Homework for Tuesday, November 29
Rats of NIMH: Chapters 12-15 and the worksheet that goes along with those chapters are due on Thursday! Feel free to take a post-it note for writing down unfamiliar words you find as you read!
Math: Finish the worksheet we started in class. Make sure you keep your work organized and easy to read and follow!
Here are some extra tips:
-Why can't we add the two numbers? Because they have different denominators.
-What do we have to do to add the two numbers? Make their denominators the same!
-Remember: Whatever you do to the denominator, you must do to the numerator! (Just remember to keep the whole number the same!)
-If your fractions add up to be improper fractions (fractions where the numerator is larger than the denominator), remember to change it to a mixed number (a whole number with a fraction) then continue adding.
If you still need help, try looking on Scholasticstudyjams.com under the fractions videos :)
